Target Heart Rate Calculator
How hard should your heart work when you exercise?
As always, check with your doctor before making any changes to your exercise plan.
Calculate your target heart rate
Your target heart rate is a useful way of ensuring that your level of activity is appropriate for you. You also can use your target heart rate to evaluate your initial fitness level and your progress over time. To do this, you'll need to measure your heart rate from time to time while you're being active. Be sure to discuss your plans for physical activity with your doctor and share these results with your health care team.
About our target heart rate calculator: When you check "low intensity" you will get figures for 50% to 75% of your maximum heart rate. When you check "high intensity" you will get figures for 75% to 85% of your maximum heart rate. Remember to discuss your target heart rate with your health care provider and always check with your doctor before starting or changing your exercise program.
To determine your target heart rate: Enter your age and intensity level, then click Calculate.
